Mumbai (Maharashtra) [India], March 11 (ANI): Mumbai Indians captain Harmanpreet Kaur won the toss and opted to bowl against Royal Challengers Bengaluru at the Brabourne Stadium in the ongoing Women’s Premier League.
MI, who have qualified for the playoffs and stand on the verge of ending the group stage on top, are facing RCB, whose fortunes have drastically changed in the ongoing season. Their title defence has ended in the group stage, and they will stay at the bottom if they suffer another defeat.
On the other hand, MI, placed second in the table, can directly qualify for the final if they end the night with a victory. If MI loses against RCB, Delhi Capitals will stay at the top and qualify for the final.
After winning the toss, Mumbai Indians captain Harmanpreet Kaur said, “We gonna bowl first. Chasing is a better option. The last game is an example. Every match, we have shown the hunger. It is an important match.”
Royal Challengers Bengaluru skipper Smriti Mandhana said during the time of the toss, “We would have fielded first. If you put up a good total, you can do well. The way we started off at the start of the tournament. The injuries didn’t help. We wanted to play our brand of cricket, but we couldn’t do that. The way Rana batted. She was fantastic. Renuka had a great season. Perry has batted well. We have three changes.”
Mumbai Indians (Playing XI): Hayley Matthews, Amelia Kerr, Nat Sciver-Brunt, Harmanpreet Kaur(c), Amanjot Kaur, Yastika Bhatia(w), Sajeevan Sajana, G Kamalini, Sanskriti Gupta, Shabnim Ismail, Parunika Sisodia
Royal Challengers Bengaluru (Playing XI): Sabbhineni Meghana, Smriti Mandhana(c), Ellyse Perry, Richa Ghosh(w), Kanika Ahuja, Georgia Wareham, Heather Graham, Sneh Rana, Kim Garth, Prema Rawat, Joshitha VJ. (ANI)
