Dehradun (Uttarakhand) [India], October 6 (ANI): Two people were arrested from Chamoli and Pauri in the last 48 hours for allegedly taking bribes, the Uttarakhand Chief Minister’s Office stated.
The CMO stated that this comes under Uttarakhand CM Dhami’s resolution of “corruption-free Uttarakhand”.
Excise Inspector Jaibeer Singh of Karnaprayag area of Chamoli district was arrested by the team of Vigilance Sector Dehradun while taking a bribe of Rs 30 thousand on Sunday. Earlier on Saturday, the Vigilance team arrested Revenue Inspector (Kanungo) Kailash Ravi while taking a bribe of Rs 15 thousand in the Agroda area of Pauri district.
‘Corruption free app 1064’ has also been launched in the state to listen to the complaints of the general public related to corruption and posters of ‘Corruption free app 1064’ are being put up in every small and big government office of the state, so that awareness is created among the people, the statement added.
So far more than 980 vigilance and non-vigilance complaints have been registered in the app. Acting on these complaints, Vigilance has sent the bribe takers to jail. In the last 9 months, Vigilance has sent about 30 bribe-takers to jail.
With two arrests in the last 48 hours, this figure has reached close to 32. In 23 years of Uttarakhand, a total of 303 have been arrested in 281 corruption-related traps. In the last three years, Vigilance has sent about 70 corrupt people to jail.
The Chief Minister said, “In the future also, swift action will be taken against the corrupt people who harass the general public. Strict action will be taken against anyone who is involved in corruption. Vigilance has been strengthened further to curb corruption.”
‘Corruption Free App 1064’ has been proven to be helpful for the common citizen. Through this app, the common citizen is fearlessly teaching a lesson to the bribe takers, lazy people and those who delay work unnecessarily. The identity of the people complaining in this app is kept secret, the CMO further stated. (ANI)
