Hyderabad (Telangana) [India], August 24 (ANI): A clash broke out between BRS (Bharat Rashtra Samithi) and Mahila Congress workers on Saturday in front of the Telangana State Women Commission office in Hyderabad.
The incident occurred as BRS working President KTR (KT Rama Rao) arrived at the office, with Congress workers protesting in front of his vehicle. The Mahila Congress was demanding an apology from KTR for his alleged derogatory remarks about against women.
The Mahila Congress demanded an apology from KTR, highlighting ongoing tensions between the two parties over women’s issues and political statements.
Telangana Women’s Commission issued a notice to BRS working President KTR, asking him to appear in person on August 24 regarding his alleged derogatory remarks about women.
KTR’s vehicle was stopped by the protesting Mahila Congress workers as they jumped in front of his vehicle outside the Commission. This incident led to a scuffle between the BRS members and Mahila Congress workers.
“He has insulted all women and now KTR has come to the women’s commission. If he doesn’t say sorry to women then we will not leave him”, said Sunitha Rao, the State President of Mahila Congress.
Additionally, the Mahila Congress president also claimed that his apology posted on X was not enough “He said it on X, so by saying it on X, is the matter finished?” added Rao.
Reacting to the scuffle between BRS and Congress workers, KTR said that he had already apologised for his remarks. “Immediately after I stated those words I apologised, and I told the Women’s Commission the same thing. Again, I told the Women’s Commission that I am sorry if anyone’s sentiments were hurt,” said the BRS working President.
He also condemned the alleged attacks by Congress workers on BRS women leaders, with him claiming that the BRS leaders have been attacked by nail cutters. He urged the state’s women’s commission to take suo moto cognisance in the matter.
“I strongly condemn the attack on our women workers by Congress workers. They tell me that they have been attacked with small objects like nail cutters. This is not right. Police should take a case against this. Women’s Commission should also take suo moto cognisance in this matter,” said KTR. (ANI)
