Haveri (Karnataka) [India], July 17 (ANI): Karnataka’s former Chief Minister and Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MP Basavaraj Bommai, on Wednesday, said that if the state government submits a proposal for additional fertilisers, the central government will supply them. However, it is the responsibility of the Agriculture Department to handle this task.
Speaking to the media in Haveri, Bommai said, “If there is a greater demand for fertilisers in the state, and if the state government submits a proposal, the central government will supply the necessary fertilisers, and efforts will be made to secure fertilisers from the Centre,” Bommai said.
Responding to a question regarding the installation of smart meters in households, he said the issue of smart meters is currently in court, and a stay order has been issued. A complaint has also been filed with the Lokayukta. In some other states, smart meters have been installed at a lower cost, and in some places, they have been provided on a lease basis. There is a suspicion among the public that the state government is charging consumers a higher price and even taking commissions from that. This issue must be investigated. The matter is in court.
In response to a question about the inauguration of the Haveri Medical College, he said that he has informed the Minister of Medical Education to take steps to invite the Union Health Minister and the Chief Minister to inaugurate it.
Earlier, on July 11, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MP Basavaraj Bommai asked the Congress high command to clarify whether Chief Minister Siddaramaiah will remain in power for five years. He said the ongoing drama will continue as long as the Congress high command does not give clarity.
Responding to a question about Siddaramaiah’s remarks that he would be the CM for five years, during a press conference, Bommai said that as many times as Siddaramaiah says that he will remain for five years, the question about his continuation arises. (ANI)
