Gandhinagar (Gujarat) [India], October 9 (ANI): Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel unveiled a commemorative postage stamp in Gandhinagar today to commemorate the completion of 25 years of development of Mundra Port on Wednesday.
A commemorative postage stamp titled “25 Years of Progress – Mundra Port” depicting the development journey of Mundra from an ordinary jetty to a global shipping hub as an important commercial port of the country is presented. This commemorative postage stamp has been issued by India Post on 9 October World Postal Day.
The commemorative stamp released by India Post is titled “25 Years of Progress – Mundra Port” and the stamp sheet containing 12 stamps has been produced by India Post in collaboration with APSEZ. 5,000 stamp sheets with a total of 60,000 stamps have been printed at Hyderabad’s Security Printing Press.
Not only this, a replica of the stamp sheet will also be permanently displayed at the National Philatelic Museum in New Delhi.
These stamps will be available for purchase through India Post’s e-portal. Apart from this Mundra Port commemorative stamp, India Post has also introduced a special cover and stamp cancellation procedure.
Mundra is an important port on the north coast of the Gulf of Kutch. This port was given permission to start as a captive jetty in 1994 by the Gujarat Maritime Board.
Since then the port has been developed on a Public Private Partnership basis, not only that, since 2001 Mundra Port and Special Economic SEZ (MPSEZ) has been operational. (ANI)
