New Delhi [India], September 25 (ANI): Chhatarpur MLA Kartar Singh Tanwar has lost his membership in the Delhi assembly. Speaker Ram Niwas Goel has disqualified Tanwar under the anti-defection law.
According to the order issued on the instructions of the Delhi Assembly Speaker, the assembly membership of Kartar Singh Tanwar has been terminated from July 10.
Tanwar was elected from the Chattarpur constituency on an AAP ticket in the 2020 assembly elections. Earlier in July, he left AAP and joined the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in the presence of BJP National General Secretary Arun Singh and Delhi party President Virendra Sachdeva, at party headquarters in New Delhi.
He joined the BJP along with former Delhi social welfare minister and AAP MLA Raaj Kumar Anand.
Earlier in July, at the time of joining BJP, Raaj Kumar Anand criticized the AAP Chief and Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal saying that he had requested the former to work towards the welfare of Dalits, however, he denied his requests.
Meanwhile, after taking charge as Chief Minister of Delhi, Atishi held a meeting with cabinet ministers and department heads to emphasise a collaborative approach and stressed the importance of ensuring that government facilities reach all the citizens in an effective manner.
Atishi said that this focus on teamwork among officials aims to enhance service delivery and improve the overall quality of life for residents in the capital.
Cabinet ministers including Gopal Rai, Kailash Gahlot, Saurabh Bharadwaj, Imran Hussain, and Mukesh Ahlawat were present, along with Chief Secretary Dharmendra and all department heads of the government.
While speaking at the occasion, Chief Minister Atishi said, “The Delhi government and the officials stationed in Delhi are fully accountable to the people. We all rely on the taxes paid by the people of Delhi, so it is our responsibility to work towards providing them with the best possible services and to fulfil our responsibilities with complete integrity.” (ANI)
