Kolkata (West Bengal) [India], June 24 (ANI): The four-day 20th Region Commanders Conference of Border Security Force (BSF) and Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) is being held in West Bengal’s Kolkata.
The South Bengal frontier of BSF also took to its official X handle and posted about the conference.
It said, “20th IsG BSF-BGB Region Commanders Conference held to coordinate Border Management Plans, Cooperation and mutual understanding between both the Border Guard Forces (BGFs) to resolve trans-border crime issues. Joint Records of Discussion was signed by both Heads of Delegation.”
The conference began on June 22 and will continue until June 25.
Addressing the conference, Ayush Mani Tiwari said, “These four days provided us an opportunity to know each other and resolve various pending issues in a very cordial manner. Such border conferences provide an opportunity to foster good relationships between the two border guarding forces deployed at the most complex borders in the world.”

The IG further added, “I firmly believe that the joint efforts of BSF and BGB will go a long way in our endeavour to make the border free from crimes and strengthen the effective border management, and also ensure the safety of our border population.”
Providing details discussed during the conference, Tiwari said, “During the conference, we discussed various mutual interests for effective border management with enhanced coordination between both border guarding forces. These included creating a sense of security among the people living on both sides of the border, joint efforts to stop crimes, curbing illegal crossing across the international boundary, stopping of smuggling of cattle, Fake Indian Currency Notes (FICN) and other contraband items, and speeding up developmental work on both the sides within 150 yards of the international boundary.”
Tiwari further stated that strengthening border infrastructure, identification of vulnerable areas for effective border management, safety and security of farmers and farmlands in border areas, and sharing of intelligence on a real-time basis were also discussed.
“We discussed several measures to build and develop mutual confidence between people living in border areas of both countries,” Tiwari added. (ANI)
