Hyderabad (Telangana) [India], July 3 (ANI): Telangana Deputy Chief Minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka on Wednesday said that Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge will address a major party meeting at LB Stadium in Hyderabad on July 4.
This will be the first time Kharge will speak directly to Congress village-level presidents.
Vikramarka urged all village, block, and district-level Congress leaders to attend the event, saying the goal is to spread the party’s ideology.
“This is the first time when AICC President will be addressing the village-level Congress presidents. It is the biggest meeting. I am requesting that all village-level presidents, block-level presidents, and district-level presidents of Congress attend this event on 4th July. The idea is to spread the ideology of the Congress party,” Vikramarka told reporters.
Vikramarka visited the venue along with Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) President Mahesh Kumar Goud, IT Minister Sridhar Babu, Telangana Incharge Meenakshi Natarajan, and Minister Ponnam Prabhakar.
Meanwhile, the Telangana government, led by Chief Minister Revanth Reddy, is set to introduce legislation aimed at protecting the rights of gig workers in the state.
Congress General Secretary Jairam Ramesh posted on X about the new bill, which will cover approximately 4.2 lakh gig workers in Telangana.
According to Ramesh, the bill includes mandatory registration of gig workers by aggregators and the formation of a Tripartite Board, consisting of worker representatives, aggregators, and government officials, to oversee welfare measures.
It also proposes the creation of a welfare fund for gig workers, which will be managed by the Tripartite Board.
“The Congress Government in Telangana is set to introduce legislation to protect and support the 4.2 lakh gig workers in the state. Key provisions–Mandatory registration of gig workers by aggregators, a Tripartite board comprising workers, aggregators, and the government to monitor gig worker welfare and a welfare fund for gig workers to be administered by the tripartite board,” Ramesh said in a post on X.
He also claimed that the bill’s main objective is to ensure economic and social justice in a “meaningful” way. Telangana will become the third state, after Rajasthan and Karnataka, to introduce such a law. (ANI)
