Patna (Bihar) [India], October 2 (ANI): Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar on Wednesday inaugurated the Bapu Tower on Mahatma Gandhi’s birth anniversary.
The inauguration event was organised at the Gandhi Maidan in Patna.
CM Kumar also paid tribute to the Father of the Nation, Mahatma Gandhi by offering flowers to his statue.
In a social media post on X, CM Nitish Kumar wrote, “On the occasion of the birth anniversary of the Father of the Nation, Mahatma Gandhi, he was paid homage by offering flowers to his statue in a state function organised at Gandhi Maidan in Patna.”
Bihar CM further said that the Mahatma Gandhi’s ideals and thoughts are inspirations and everyone should follow his thoughts.
“Tributes to the Father of the Nation, Mahatma Gandhi on his birth anniversary. Bapu’s ideals and his thoughts inspire us. We should follow Bapu’s thoughts and pledge to take them forward. Bapu’s path and his teachings will create an atmosphere of brotherhood and harmony in the society and the country will move forward,” he said in another social media post on X.
Earlier in the day, JD(U) MP and Union Minister Rajeev Ranjan, alias Lalan Singh, participated in the Swachhata Abhiyan on the occasion of Gandhi Jayanti and said that cleanliness is an important part in everybody’s life.
“Through this campaign, the message is clear that cleanliness is a very important part of every individual’s life. Cleanliness can help in getting rid of many problems,” the Union Minister said.
He said ‘Swachata’ should not just be treated as a slogan; rather, it should be part of everyone’s life. “If we will clean our surroundings, it will help get rid of diseases,” he added. ‘Swachh Bharat’ campaign marked ten years on Wednesday.
On August 15, 2014, Prime Minister Narendra Modi delivered a powerful message from the ramparts of the Red Fort, calling for cleanliness to become a national priority and urging citizens to join in this mission. This led to the launch of the Swachh Bharat Mission on October 2, 2014, which embraced a ‘whole-of-government’ approach to make sanitation the responsibility of all. (ANI)
